Job Posting for Director of Student Ministries at Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church
Galloway Memorial United Methodist Church (“Galloway”), a historic congregation in downtown Jackson, Mississippi, is seeking a full-time Director of Student Ministry (“DSM”) to oversee and give direction for ministries to students in grades 7-12, as well as their families. While providing ministry to these students would be his or her primary objective, the DSM would also engage in and maintain relationships with college students. What is MissionFest?
It is a week when youth and adults from churches across the state (and even from other states) come together for inner-city service, Bible Study, worship, and fellowship -- building relationships in the name of Jesus Christ. Church groups stay at Millsaps College, and a real sense of community develops through the week as we work, play, worship, share meals, and grow in our faith together. Participants are divided into small groups which serve at work sites around the metro Jackson area, including working with children, sorting clothing, visiting the elderly, landscaping, serving meals, etc. While we can't guarantee participants will get their first choice of work sites, they do have the chance to request what they prefer.
Who Comes to MissionFest?
Youth who have completed grades 6-12 and their adult chaperones participate in MissionFest, with strong involvement from churches in the Mississippi Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church.
